The Perfect Little Love Story

What does the word LOVE mean to you?” Love in my opinion, is the thing that is given without expecting anything in return.

How to begin when describing the original 2 Moons series with anything other than heartbreak that GMM One did not continue production of the show, even though there was enough material for the story to continue? Well, another studio picked up the show and remade it with a whole new cast. But we will always have the original to look back on.

2 Moons is the story of Wayo (Bas Suradej), Faculty of Science who is accepted into the University of his long time crush, P’Phana (God Itthipat) who was his senior in high school and part of the Faculty of Medicine. Wayo’s best friend Ming (Kim Vorodom) is attending the same University in the Engineering faculty.

Wayo is elected the moon of his faculty, and his crush was the Campus moon after winning the year before (2 Moons). Wayo’s best friend also becomes the Moon of the Engineering faculty and will join Wayo in the competition. Wayo is different than the previous moons. He’s short and cute, whereas Ming fits the prototype of what Moon winners usually show up, Tall, Handsome and manly. Phana, the previous Campus moon is tall, athletic, and the person every girl in the school falls in love with.

Wayo is shy and would rather sit in his room reading Manga comics, and sleeping in until late. But after being pressured to represent his faculty, he begins to run into problems with his crush. This friction is one of the best Enemies to Lovers ships for a main couple. Phana does not remember his junior from High School, and is a bit of a bully to him. As the story unfolds, the two reconcile their differences, a great love story unfolds.

One of the best aspects of the show are the group of friends associated with the two. Phana’s friends, Kit and Beam remember Wayo from high school, and it is quite funny how things play out between them, since Phana does’t know why they are taking an interest in the Nong. Ming, might be the greatest wingman in a series so far. He offers Wayo advice, helps set up Wayo to have alone time with P’Pha and is always pointing out the obvious to Wayo, who seems a little dense at times.

Dumbstruck Wayo falling into daydreaming lapses when he sees Phana is so tender, and cute. And Wayo doesn’t fully understand that he’s quite attractive. He isn’t the manly Phana or Ming, but he’s cute, and everyone seems to like him, including the Moon of the Engineering faculty from the year before, who is also friends with Phana. Of course this allows for some drama, as Phana has to navigate his feelings, with those of his friend who has declared an interest in Wayo.

The side ship with Ming and Kit Kat is also really well done, as neither of them really took interest in each other or boys in general, and begin to feel romantically towards each other. The progression there is also really great to watch.

The show also has one of the most romantic scenes where we see things from Phana’s point of view from the first time. A very specific scene of Phana’s realization of Wayo as his junior from High School as Wayo dances is one of my favorite in all the BL series.

Overall, this show was extremely cute, and “Ordinary Person” was so well done and fit into the story line really well. The whole show is actually really well done, with one of the better story lines. Casting was really great from Forth on down to Bas as Wayo.

Great thumbs up – the only sad part, which is devastating, is that 2 Moons 2 was a remake and used a brand new cast. 2 Moons 2 was great for its own reasons, but P’Pha and and Wayo were so well cast in the original. It’s hard to forget how good it felt to watch them together, and to replace them.
